Morocco
Somewhat impulsively, I purchased tickets to visit Morocco in March during spring break. I’ll be flying in and out of Casablanca, but also taking the train to Merrakech and Fes (and maybe adding another city or two to my itinerary once I’m there). Life is short, so why not?

Guatemala

Somewhat on a whim, I’ve decided to spend two months next summer in Guatemala volunteering with a couple of organizations. I have my ticket to fly from NYC to Guatemala City on June 14th, returning August 14th.
I’ll be taking a 40 litre backpack, my camera, a few notebooks, and a mobile phone, but not much else aside from basic clothing and absolute essentials (tooth brush, etc.). The idea is to travel light, even though I’ll be there for an extended period of time.

A New Way of Thinking
In 2006, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations released a report called Livestock’s Long Shadow: Environmental Issues and Options. I might have heard of the report in passing news articles over the years, but it really wasn’t till the summer of 2009 when I read an article discussing the significance of the report that I paid any real attention to it.

$25 for charity: water for my 25th birthday
In November, I’m turning 25 years old. This year I’m asking everyone I know to donate $25 to charity: water to go towards building a freshwater well for a community in the Central African Republic.
Want to help? Check out my birthday campaign on the charity: water site.
